RESIDENCY
Fjaler – where art and rural life come together!
With support from the Sparebank Foundation in Fjaler and Vestland County Municipality, PreForm is now able to offer artists in residence free access to the stage and sound studio at Samvirket. The facilities are very well suited for theatre, dance, music, and sound productions. In addition to the main stage and studio, we also offer amenities such as a kitchen, bathroom, and lounge areas.
We welcome projects in various stages of production; however, to be eligible for a work residency, the project must still be in development and not yet completed. Outside of the residency program, the facilities are also available for rental by agreement.
Within the PreForm community, there are various resources available to support your production by arrangement — whether you need production assistance, dramaturgy, sound design, or other forms of artistic consultation. Our in-house technician will assist with check-in and check-out and can also contribute to your project by further agreement.
We greatly appreciate it if you would conclude your stay with a work-in-progress showing or an internal presentation, and we are happy to assist with organizing this!

Welcome to Fjaler
- a place for artistic immersion, creativity, and community!
Fjaler has extensive experience in hosting artists for both residencies and productions.
The Nordic Artist Centre in Dale has been hosting visual artists since 1998, while the Jakob Sande Centre for Storytelling has developed residencies for writers since 2017. The annual Theatre Festival in Fjaler has, since 2013, welcomed artists for the production and presentation of performing arts, dance, and music.
We believe that getting away from the everyday can be both inspiring and liberating. Many of those who come here share that they find their own artistic bubble – a space to dive deeper into their work, with peace and new impulses to fuel their creativity.
Dale is, in other words, a vibrant village with a diverse cultural environment that offers creative resources and inspiration. PreForm is happy to assist in facilitating and acting as a liaison between our guests and the local community, ensuring that you get the most out of your stay here.
